Care Guide

All Viberg footwear is crafted on a 100% natural leather custom chassis. This chassis consists of heavy-weight solid leather insoles, toe puffs, and heel counters. The result is a customized fit that will closely conform to the shape of you feet with wear. These small, intentional details, while not visible on the surface, form a solid foundation that is designed to be recrafted and resoled. Please allow up to 30 days of wear for your initial break-in period. During this time, the leather chassis will start to take the shape of your feet.

Smooth Leather

Our Smooth Grain Leathers have a visible grain that varies in size depending on the type of animal and tanning method.  All of our grain leathers are 'finished' leathers from the select tanneries we work with and during our finishing process we try to leave the leather as close to original finish/color as intended by our tanneries. We suggest applying a moisturizing Shoe Cream or Leather Conditioner every 3-4 months, or as needed depending on your environment.

Care Steps:

1. Remove surface dirt with a clean cloth or brush. If deep cleaning is needed - apply our Leather Castile Soap, wipe with a damp cloth, and allow to dry fully.

2. Apply a small amount of our Shoe Cream or Leather Conditioner evenly to the uppers using a clean cloth or dauber. Allow to dry fully.

3. Buff with our Horsehair Shine Brush.

4. Store with shoe trees to absorb excess moisture, and maintain shape.

Suede & Roughout

We source only the highest-grade full grain suedes available including Calf, Cowhide, and Antelope. All of these hides share the same benefits created by leaving the epidermis layer of the grain side intact, allowing the suede to retain the strength, durability, and water-repellency of smooth grain leather.

Care Steps:

1. Remove surface dirt with a clean cloth or brush.

2. Use our Suede Nubuck Brush to lift deeper marks and stains.

3. If a deep cleaning is needed - apply our Marseille Soap Shampoo spray and scrub thoroughly with a clean cloth or dauber, wipe with a damp cloth, and allow to dry fully.

Optional: Use our Silicone Suede Brush to restore the suede's original texture

Optional: Apply our Waterproofing Spray or Brightening Spray, and allow ample time to dry.

4. Store with shoe trees to absorb excess moisture, and maintain shape.

Shell Cordovan

Shell Cordovan is a 100% vegetable-tanned equine leather made from the fibrous, flat connective tissue found in the rump area of the horse. It is an exceptionally durable, naturally water-resistant leather that can achieve a glossy, mirror-like finish. Due to the uniqueness of this leather, it features no visible grain, and will roll rather than crease with wear.

Surface scratches can be treated with coloured shoe cream.

Care Steps:

1. Remove surface dirt with a clean cloth or brush. If a deep cleaning is needed - apply our Leather Castile Soap, wipe with a damp cloth, and allow to dry fully.

2. Apply a small amount of our Shoe Cream or Leather Conditioner evenly to the uppers using a clean cloth or dauber. Allow to dry fully.

3. Buff thoroughly with our Horsehair Shine Brush to restore shine.

4. Store with shoe trees to absorb excess moisture, and maintain shape.

Waxed Leather

Our Waxed Leathers have a visible waxed coating that has been applied during the tanning process. This wax coating is applied to either the flesh or grain side, depending on the type and usage of the leather. This coating will fade over time and with wear, and can be reapplied if desired. If you do not care to reapply the wax coating, refer to the appropriate Care Steps for the base leather.

Care Steps:
